A four session mini-course taught by experienced news researcher Shira Kavon, who will guide you in the use of the Internet to research resources in the Arts. Learn the Internet's most reliable cultural sources, including archives of performances, recordings, artist interviews, and repositories of cultural scholarly works. One session each will be devoted to the allied arts of Cinema and Television; Art, Architecture, and Design; Music, Dance, and Theatre; Literature and Poetry.
Shira Kavon, holds her MLS from Queens College of the City University of New York and worked side-by-side with television journalists for 14 years as Senior Editorial and Video News Researcher in the New York Bureau of CNN. Shira is a member of the News Division of the Special Libraries Association, and has participated in projects and programs with Division colleagues from the Congressional Research Service, National Public Radio, the National Press Association, the New York Times, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.
She is a member of the Division's Agnes Henebry Roll of Honor, and has served as a Judge for the News and Documentary Emmy Awards. She and her husband, Burt Grossman, live in Provincetown year-round and own CURIO More than Coffee.
