WINTER 2019 CLASSES

Registering for classes is easy.  If you aren't already a member read these directions and then click Sign Up.
    
     - Click on Log In on the upper right
     - Click on Register located under the Log In field
     - Fill out the form - Select Member under Member Type

Your application will be approved and then you'll be able to register for PTV classes. 

To register for a class click on the class title in the calendar in the next window click on Sign Up.

iPhone Storytelling

​Thursday • 2-hours
  • February 28 @ 4:00pm
iPhones are a great tool for video storytelling.  Learn how to use your phone to record and edit beautiful
videos to share on social media and PTV.  Please note this class is open to all smartphone users but is based
on iPhone apps and methods.

You will learn:
Story structure
Basic iPhone camera techniques
Shot composition
Basic app tips

Prerequisite: Orientation

Studio Intro

Tuesdays​ • 2 sessions, 2-hours each
  • January 15th & 19th @ 5:30
  • March 12th & 26th @ 5:30
Learn how to direct a talk show in our Commercial Street studio.  
You will produce a program for PTV during the second session.

You will learn:
Basic studio directing techniques
Shot composition
Basic video switcher operation
Basic microphone techniques

Camera Intro

Tuesdays • 2 sessions • 2-hours
  • February 12 & 26 @ 5:30

Learn the basics of the PTV camcorders.  
You will be asked to complete a fun homework assignment.
 
You will learn:
Basic camera techniques
Shot composition
Basic audio
Basic story construction

Prerequisite: Orientation

Build Your Story
Thursday • 2-hours
  • January 31 @ 3:00
All video production starts with a story.  Learn how to organize your project into the story you want to tell.
 
You will learn:
Basic pre-production techniques
How to organize your ideas into a story outline
How to make a shot list
Tips on how to approach potential interview subjects

Intro to Editing

Thursdays • 1 session • 2-hours
  • January 17 @ 4:00
  • February 14 @ 4:00
  • March 14 @ 4:00

This class will give you an overview of the editing process and get you ready to learn Final Cut Pro X.
Follow-up lessons are required for editing certification.
 
You will learn:
Basic FCPX interface
Pre-edit organization
Basic editing terms

Intro to DSLR

Thursday • 1 session • 2-hours
  • March 28 @ 3:00

Learn the basics of using PTV's Canon 60D Camera, a digital single lens reflex camera.  
This is an advanced camera class for those who would like to take their video work to the
next level and achieve a more cinematic look for their production.  
 
You will learn:
Differences between a camcorder & DSLR
Basic DSLR techniques
Basic audio recording for DSLR production.
